Boutonnieres made of ribbon have endless design potential (and, unlike real blooms, are always in season). Create them for your groomsmen with ribbon that matches the bridesmaids' dresses or the ribbons around their bouquets. Give them a masculine feel by using a striped, plaid, or checked pattern. Ours are crafted of 1-inch-wide grosgrain.
Ribbon-Flower Boutonniere How-To
1. Knot thread; sew running stitch along one edge of 6-inch-long ribbon. Gather ribbon on thread; knot thread.
2. Sew ribbon ends together.
3. Bend 6-inch wire in half. Cover 1/2-inch button form with ribbon. Slip end of wire through shank. Push wire through flower's center, twist together, and trim to 2 inches. Wrap with thin ribbon. Tie ribbon around stem.
