BAGS

Trick-or-Treat Bags

Colored-paper bags filled with Halloween candy are great for party guests and trick-or-treaters alike. Martha fills hers with gummy worms, candy corn, and even wax fangs, but any wrapped candy will do. The paper bags we used aren't flat-bottomed, so to make them stand up, fold the corners under after you've added the candy.
To make (1), use scissors to zigzag the top of an orange bag. Cut black paper to fit inside, and zigzag its top too. Insert the paper in the bag, and fold the bag and the black paper over together. Make two holes near the top; thread a black shoelace, ribbon, or licorice lace through from the back, then tie in a bow.
To make (2), cut the top as desired, make two holes, thread ribbon through, and tie a stick of candy into the bow.
To make (3), trim the top of the bag straight, then use a 1/2-inch craft punch to make big round holes. Line the bag with a sleeve of orange paper, and zigzag the top with pinking shears.
